BUILDING HOPE AND A FUTURE
WORLD REFUGEE DAY — Monday, June 20th Who are refugees?
Refugees are people who have fled their countries because of a well-founded fear of persecution and who are therefore unable to return home. Canada resettles refugees to save lives and provide stability to those fleeing persecution who have no hope of relief back home. There are 60 million refugees worldwide.
What is our Community Doing?
We have a well-established group of committed workers raising money and awareness. Before we can apply for a refugee family to the Trail Community we must raise $18,000 and must have a total of $30,000 to support a family for a year. Hopefully, next year we will be able to celebrate this day with a refugee family in our midst.

What’s involved in becoming a private sponsor for a refugee?
Sponsoring a refugee is a significant commitment both financially and emotionally.
An individual or a group can sponsor refugees from abroad, who qualify to come to Canada. According to the government of Canada website, private sponsorship’s help thousands of refugees every year.
